Introducing the new Refactoring Library! 🏛️
Create your own learning journey across the best engineering content on the internet
Hi everyone!
In 2 years of Refactoring, I wrote 120+ articles and amassed 250+ resources about all things engineering.
Today I am excited to introduce a new major version of the Refactoring Library, to help subscribers use all of this to supercharge their growth.
Here is a quick welcome video 👇
Let me walk you through it.
🏛️ The New Library
The Library is meant to complement the weekly articles by providing a curated, organized space where you can go and learn anything in the engineering space.
To do so, I obsess over the following qualities:
🔍 Curated — everything is carefully vetted to include only the very best articles and tools. Each item contains my personal recommendation about why it has been included.
🍱 Organized — you are able to find anything you need in a few seconds, thanks to thoughtful organization and lightning-fast search.
🕹️ Interactive — you are able to shape your own learning path by subscribing to topics and keeping track of your progress.
Let’s see how it works.
🎨 Categories
In the Library, articles are organized into 5 main categories:
🔨 Dev Process
🎽 Engineering Management
👁️ Technical Strategy
💼 Hiring & Careers
🏃♂️ Personal Growth
These are the main learning tracks of Refactoring. Each article I write belongs to one of these categories.
🏷️ Topics
Each category is further split into topics.
Topics are comprehensive of what a category should be about, so you can figure out if there are areas that you want to catch up on for your growth.
For each topic, you can find all the related articles I have written—that usually act as primers—and further resources and tools I recommend you to read or use.
🌟 Follow topics
When you want to learn more about some topic, you can subscribe to it by clicking on the follow button top right.
Once you do that, you will see what is your completion rate based on the articles you have already read, and those you haven’t yet.
Finally, you can check all the topics you are following and see your progress, in the My Topics page 👇
The My Topics page shows you at a glance all the things you are learning, and how much you are left to read for each topic. You will also find shortcuts to find new topics to learn in the various categories.
And it ain't over! The library is not only for learning — it is for making friends, too 🍻
💬 Community
From the community page you can search for literally anything (location, job, tags, ...), find relevant people in the Refactoring community, and reach out to them.
🎁 Deals
Finally, we have incredible deals! You can check the available Refactoring Deals by clicking on the Deals item in the sidebar.
They include more than $50,000 worth of discounts, across 20+ popular dev tools. I have personally used each of those tools and I recommend them wholeheartedly.
🔑 How to access
The Library is exclusive to Refactoring paid subscribers.
This was a tough choice, but paid subscriptions allow me to focus 100% of my time on Refactoring, and I use the revenues to build the very best product I am capable of.
If you are a free member, consider subscribing below 👇 or learn more about the paid plan from here.
🎽 Refactoring for Teams
Many managers buy group subscriptions for their team, to help them grow personally and professionally.
The Library is designed to help with that.
We work with several companies who are already using the Library to drive conversations and growth in rituals like 1:1s and performance reviews.
As a manager — you can use the content to make your reports catch up with specific topics.
As a report — you can get your subscription (or that for your team) expensed, based on your learning budget.
Team plans are also discounted. You can get one from here 👇
And that’s it! Let me know your thoughts. I take your feedback very seriously and I will reply to every single email or comment.
Thank you! 🙏
Sincerely,
Luca
